About Social Media Head
About Social Media Head
Plain-English platform guides for people who don’t think of themselves as marketers.
Why this site exists
Most social media advice doesn’t help you decide anything.
“Post consistently.” “Engage with your audience.” “Add value.” You’ve heard all of it. None of it tells you which platform is actually right for your kind of business, what the algorithm specifically rewards, or whether the platform is even worth the time you’d spend on it.
The advice that would actually help — which platform fits your situation, what to post in the first week, what the algorithm is doing right now, whether this is worth building here at all — was either missing, buried under filler, or written for marketers talking to other marketers.
We built Social Media Head to be the resource we wished existed: platform-specific, honest about tradeoffs, updated when things change, and written for people who are just trying to figure this out.
What this site covers
Ten platforms. An independently-tested tools directory. Supporting blog content.
There’s no email list, no courses, no consulting offers, and nothing to buy. The site exists to be useful.
The platforms we cover: TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Pinterest, X (Twitter), Threads, Reddit, and Substack.
How our guides are written
Every guide starts with platform documentation, independent research, and verified creator data. We cite specific sources for specific claims. We update guides when platforms make significant changes — not to hit a publishing schedule.
We state clearly who each platform is for — and who should probably skip it. Not every platform is right for every business, and generic neutrality isn’t useful to someone who needs to make a real decision.
On affiliate links
The tools page includes affiliate links. We earn a small commission if you sign up through our links. It never influences which tools we recommend or how we rank them. We only list tools we’d actually use.
